WWA / Private viewing room

A private viewing room for buying and selling works, by invitation only

Behind this page sits a closed viewing room where a small number of works can be examined in full detail and acquired or consigned. Access is given by invitation, after screening. WWA is part of the same company as the laboratory, not a broker: we run these pages, read every request and put serious ones directly in contact with the right specialist.

What the viewing room is for

Three things, and nothing else. No public listings, no auction theatre, no intermediaries stacked on top of each other.

01

View

Works are presented with high-resolution photography made for close examination — surface, craquelure, signature, verso, frame and condition, rather than a flattering single shot.

02

Acquire

If a work interests you, you are put in direct contact with the specialist responsible for it. Examination reports and provenance material are shared before anything is agreed.

03

Sell

You can also place a work. Authentication comes first, restoration is offered if it is worth doing, and the sale only proceeds if your reserve is met.

WWA / 03

Photography and examination made for detail

The same laboratory that examines works for institutions prepares the material you see in the viewing room. What is shown is documentation, not marketing imagery.

01

High-resolution photography

Raking light, ultraviolet and infrared imaging where relevant, plus macro detail of passages that matter — so condition can be judged before travelling to see a work.

02

Scientific examination

Spectroscopy and pigment analysis are carried out in the laboratory when a work calls for it, and the findings are written down rather than summarised verbally.

03

Written documentation

Each work carries a written record of what was examined, what was found and what remains open. Nothing is asserted that the examination does not support.

How a sale is handled

From the first request to the work returning to your wall, each step happens in one place and stays documented.

  1. 01

    Screening and invitation

You tell us what you are looking for or what you hold. If it is relevant, you receive access to the viewing room and are introduced to the specialist concerned.

  2. 02

    Authentication first

No work changes hands before it has been examined. Authentication and condition assessment precede every sale, in both directions.

  3. 03

    Restoration if it is warranted

If conservation would change how the work reads or what it is worth, it is proposed — with an opinion on whether it is worth doing at all. It is never a condition of a sale.

  4. 04

    Your reserve, or no sale

You set a minimum. If it is not reached, nothing happens and the work stays yours.

  5. 05

    Logistics and return

Collection, insured transport, customs formalities and delivery back to your home are arranged for you. Climate-controlled secure storage is available before, during and after.

The terms, stated plainly

So there is nothing to discover later.

  • —Access is by invitation only, granted after screening. There is no public registration.
  • —Authentication is carried out before any sale, in both directions.
  • —Restoration may be proposed, never imposed, and is quoted by the specialist — not by us.
  • —A work is only sold if your reserve price is reached.
  • —Transport, customs and delivery back to your address are arranged as part of the mandate.
  • —Climate-controlled secure storage is available for as long as you need it.
  • —WWA takes no commission and no percentage. We advertise and screen; the specialists handle the mandate.
  • —Everything shared stays confidential and is seen only by the specialists concerned.

Request an invitation

Tell us briefly what you collect, or what you are considering placing. A few lines are enough — photographs help if you have them. Serious, relevant requests receive access and a direct introduction.

Confidential — nothing is published and nothing is passed on beyond the specialists concerned.

Questions we are asked

Why is the viewing room closed?
Because the owners of the works ask for it. Discretion is part of the service, and screening keeps the room to people who are actually in a position to buy or sell.
Do you value or appraise my work?
We do not issue valuations, quotes or offers ourselves. We read your request and, if it is relevant, put you directly in contact with the specialist who does.
What happens if my work is not authenticated?
Then it is not sold through us. The examination result is given to you in writing either way, and you decide what to do next.
Do I have to restore before selling?
No. Restoration is proposed only when it is worth doing, and you are free to decline it and proceed, or to withdraw the work entirely.
Who pays for transport and storage?
It is agreed with the specialist as part of the mandate, before anything moves. There are no costs that appear afterwards.

If this is the level you work at, ask for access

No quote, no commission, no broker. Your request is read, screened and, if it is relevant, answered with an invitation and a direct introduction.
